Thorlabs’ LKA1300 Ambient Liquid Cooling System is a recirculating liquid to air heat exchanger that provides up to 1300 W of cooling with a 25 °C liquid-to-ambient temperature difference. With a constant load at a constant ambient temperature, the LKA1300 operates with 1.2 bar (17.4 psi) of pumping capability and a temperature stability of ±0.5 °C with ≥0.5 Lpm flow. The coolant can either be water or a mixture of water and water-glycol (antifreeze), and is recirculated using a high-pressure pump to attain maximum flow rate. Heat from the coolant is absorbed by a radiant heat exchanger and dissipated into the environment using silent fans.

Features:

  • Up to 1300 W of Cooling Power with a 25 °C Liquid-Ambient Temperature Delta
  • Temperature Range from Ambient (Minimum of 0 °C) to 40 ° C with Fan in Automatic Mode
  • Temperature Stability of ±0.5 °C at ≥0.5 Lpm Flow Under a Constant Load at Constant Ambient Temperature

The LKA1300 ambient liquid cooling system is controlled locally through the front panel, consisting of three dynamic menu buttons. The target temperature can be set from 0 °C, the minimum ambient liquid temperature the LKA1300 can operate with, to 40 °C in 0.5 °C increments. By default, the target temperature is set to the temperature of the outlet sensor. Performance may be monitored on the front screen of the LKA1300 unit, with assorted warning or error icons appearing on the screen. Please reference the manual for information on specific warning and error codes. For additional safety, the cooling system includes a BNC interlock to disable connected equipment in the case of operational errors.

The 445 mL coolant reservoir of the LKA1300 cooling system can be easily accessed by opening the reservoir cap on top of the device. The level of the LKA1300 cooling system's reservoir can be noted by the liquid level indicator on the front panel of the device. Never fill coolant beyond the "MAX" indicator on the liquid level window, as overfilling may cause coolant to leak from the unit's bottom overflow hole. A funnel is included with each unit to simplify filling the reservoir.
