The Thorlabs HBA30 High-Bandwidth Piezo Amplifier is designed for driving high-speed piezoelectric actuators. The output signal range is -3 V to 30 V with a 500 kHz -3 dB bandwidth with no load; see Figure 1.3 for the frequency response of the power gain at common piezo load capacitance values. The piezo amplifier can achieve a continuous AC RMS output current of 2.0 A and a peak AC current of 6.0 A. The low phase difference between the input and output signals for typical piezo capacitance values, with <60° at 600 kHz with no load, as shown in Figure 1.4, leads to increased stability and a higher bandwidth when using this piezo amplifier in a feedback loop.

A high-bandwidth piezo amplifier is recommended for use in systems requiring a fast response with a micrometer scale piezoelectric range of travel. If a larger range of travel is needed, an approach to increasing the range while maintaining the fast bandwidth is to use a slower, long-scan piezoelectric actuator to correct the low-frequency, near-DC shifts, driven by a  BPA100 High-Voltage Piezo Amplifier, in addition to a fast piezo driven by the HBA30 amplifier.
