Lasermet is proud to announce the launch of the DragonDoor, the next evolution in safety for modern medical facilities. Purpose-built for laser, X-ray, and fire protection, DragonDoor represents a new benchmark in integrated safety design for hospitals, clinics, and research institutions.
A New Era of Medical Safety
As the medical industry advances toward more powerful and complex laser and imaging technologies, the risks inside operating theatres have similarly been ramped up. Traditionally, facilities have had to compromise with choosing between laser shielding, X-ray attenuation, or fire protection but with DragonDoor, those compromises end. This innovative door system is engineered to deliver comprehensive, multi-hazard protection in a single, high-performance solution.
Medical Safety Door with Triple Protection
Lasermet’s DragonDoor is a heavy-duty safety door designed for medical environments to protect against laser and X-ray danger whilst maintaining a 2-hour minimum fire rating. The DragonDoor can be optionally fitted with the Caiman Window for visibility into the enclosed area.
Description
Each door panel uses Lasermet’s patented laser blocking material with a special core, all encased in steel for a sleek finish suitable for cleanrooms and medical environments. Options include fitting with the interlocked Caiman Slatted Window to allow viewing of the hazardous area.
The DragonDoor represents the latest innovation in high-performance safety doors—engineered to withstand and protect against extreme hazards including fire, radiation, smoke, and high-powered lasers. The robust door construction includes rebate for acoustic and smoke prevention features.
Fire Protection
DragonDoors provide fire resistance up to 2 hours.
The material is A1 class compliant with EN 15283-1 (GM-F).
X-Ray Shielding
Protection from ionising radition equivalent to 0.45mm lead.
X-ray shielding compliant with BS EN 520:2004 + A1:2009.
Laser Blocking
Engineered using Lasermet’s proprietary certified laser-blocking technology.
Fully compliant with laser safety standards.
Triple Protection. Zero Compromise.
Engineered for Seamless Integration to Clinical Environments
DragonDoor is designed to integrate effortlessly with Lasermet’s interlock and safety control systems, ensuring complete operational protection. When paired with Lasermet’s Interlock Controller and interlock systems, DragonDoor becomes part of a fully interlocked safety environment — automatically preventing laser operation if the door is open or improperly sealed.
Additionally, the door can be fitted with the Interlocked Caiman viewing windows, allowing safe visual supervision of laser procedures without compromising safety. This interoperability ensures not only personnel safety but also regulatory compliance with international standards such as IEC 60825-1.
The DragonDoor is built to match the technical and aesthetic requirements of medical environments, including:
- Dimensions and configurations suited to new builds or retrofits
- Optional Caiman viewing panels
- Integration with access control and building management systems
- Surface finishes aligned with sterile or clinical design standards
- Whether for ophthalmology, dermatology, surgical laser suites, or hybrid imaging rooms, DragonDoor offers a solution that meets both performance and compliance objectives.

Future-Ready Compliance and Assurance
Healthcare facilities face increasing regulatory scrutiny to ensure that medical environments remain safe for both staff and patients. DragonDoor has been developed to meet and future-proof against evolving standards for:
- Laser controlled area containment
- Radiation shielding certification
- Fire-rated door compliance
- Interlock system validation and traceability
