Thorlabs Quantum Optics Educational Kit: Easy-to-Use Kits Include Components Plus Free Educational Materials

Thorlabs' EDU-QOP1(/M) Quantum Optics Educational Kit includes all the components* needed for students to investigate the quantum properties of light first-hand in an open and accessible environment. From the type-I BBO crystal used to generate photon pairs to the state-of-the-art single-photon detectors, all elements employ free-space optics to clearly show where and when the measurement occurs. Detailed step-by-step alignment instructions using an additional visible laser that mimics the single-photon emission cone ensure short setup times for each experiment. One particularly important aspect of the kit is to educate people about what constitutes a non-classical light source.

  • Thorlabs Quantum Technologies: Single-Crystal Diamonds with Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) Centers

Thorlabs Quantum Technologies: Single-Crystal Diamonds with Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) Centers

Thorlabs' single-crystal diamondsare manufactured by Element Six using patented processes and offered by Thorlabs to enable quantum research advancements. They are ideal for magnetic field sensing, RF detection, gyroscopes, masers, quantum demonstrations, quantum computing, quantum communication, and research applications. The quantum-grade diamonds are available with either 300 ppb or 4.5 ppm nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center densities. For users who wish to create their own defect centers, electronic-grade diamonds with ≤0.03 ppb NV concentration and low background impurity is available. These diamonds are useful for applications such as fabricating ionizing radiation-resistant devices.

  • Thorlabs Polaris XY Translation Mount for Ø1" Optics

Thorlabs Polaris XY Translation Mount for Ø1" Optics

The ThorlabsPolaris® XY Translation Mount is the ultimate solution for applications requiring stringent long-term alignment stability. The front plate features an SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) bore with a stainless steel retaining ring for mounting Ø1" lenses or SM1-threaded components. The translation plates are secured using a patent-pending flexure preloading mechanism that is lockable using a setscrew with a ball tip that introduces minimal angular shifts during locking and unlocking. This design provides high holding force and pointing stability while allowing quick and easy installation of the optic. Two mounting positions are possible for right- or left-handed orientations.
