Access Lasers CO2 Lasers

CO2 Lasers for the Information Age

Access Lasers offer innovative RF excited CO and CO2 lasers to meet the challenges of the 21st century. These are used in spectroscopy-based instrumentation, laser marking and cutting, laser surgery, night vision illumination, laser radar, portable laser devices, interferometry, environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, industrial and agricultural process control, free-space optical communication and more.

The main features of Access Lasers CO2 laser systems are reliability, affordability, portability, stability, tunability, and high precision.

Melles Griot Helium Cadmium
The helium cadmium (HeCd) laser is a member of the same laser family as the HeNe, and is the only relatively economical, continuous-wave (cw) source of violet (442-nm) and ultraviolet (325-nm) output. Because of its excellent match to photo polymer and film sensitivity wavelength ranges and its good beam quality, it is used extensively for three-dimensional stereolithography applications, as well as for creating embossed holograms.

Melles Griot is the world’s largest manufacturer of HeCd systems. Consequently, we offer a wide variety of standard and custom options.

Melles Griot Helium Neon Lasers
The helium neon laser was the first laser to be used in volume applications.  Currently, there are millions of HeNe lasers in the field, and only the semiconductor diode laser is produced in greater volume.  The key to the HeNe's success has been its low cost, small size, long operating life (as much as 50,000 operating hours), and unsurpassed beam quality.  HeNe lasers produce milliwatts of output power and are available in a variety of wavelengths ranging from 543 nm (green) to 1.523 μm (infrared).  The most common wavelength is the familiar 633 nm (red).  These lasers are small, convection cooled, and can be operated from ordinary household power or even from batteries.

Melles Griot Krypton Ion

Melles Griot Krypton-ion lasers have output across the visible. The major krypton wavelengths are 568 nm (yellow), 647 nm (red), and 676 nm (red). The blue-green wavelengths of krypton are significantly weaker than those of argon-ion lasers, so in many cases krypton and argon are mixed in the same discharge tube to provide balanced output (see argon/krypton lasers). Melles Griot only offers single-line krypton lasers with output at 568 nm. Single-line yellow output is available from our line of krypton/argon lasers. The individual krypton red lines can be obtained from our tunable argon/krypton lasers.

All systems feature both automatic power control (light regulation) and automatic current control modes that are accessible through an RS-232 interface. Output can be varied from near threshold to full power.

Melles Griot Argon Krypton
Melles Griot Mixed-gas lasers, also known as argon/krypton lasers, have output wavelengths across the visible spectrum, with particularly strong lines at 488 nm (blue), 514 nm (green), 568 nm (yellow) and 647 nm (red). Dual-wavelength argon/krypton lasers produce 20 mW at both 488 nm and 568 nm; all-lines operation provides 10 mW at 488 nm, 10 mW and 568 nm and 15 mW at 647 nm (other wavelengths may be present in these lasers, but output is not specified or guaranteed). Line-selectable krypton/argon lasers are available with output at nine wavelengths ranging from 476 nm to 676 nm. Specific output power on tunable lasers is guaranteed for the major lines only (488 nm, 514 nm, 568 nm and 647 nm)

All systems feature both automatic power control (light regulation) and automatic current control modes that are accessible through an RS-232 interface. Output can be varied from near threshold to full power.

Melles Griot Argon Ion Lasers
Argon-ion lasers have output in the blue-green spectral region with lines ranging from 454 nm (deep blue/violet) to 514 nm (green) as shown in the illustration below. The strongest output is at 488 nm (blue) and 514 nm. Argon-ion lasers are available with fixed single-line output at 457 nm, 488 nm, and 514 nm with output power as high as 150 mW; multiline output with combined output power as high as 490 mW; and with single-line output that can be tuned, in discrete steps, from 454 nm to 514 nm.
