Spectral measurements to 153 nm can be achieved easily and economically with the high-sensitivity Ocean OpticsMaya2000 Pro with Extra-Deep-UV Option. Nitrogen purging of the spectrometer helps to mitigate water and oxygen absorption in the vacuum ultraviolet. A variety of materials have spectral signatures in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectral region, typically described as the region from 10 nm-200 nm1, 2. VUV spectroscopy is useful for applications ranging from biomedicine to semiconductor testing. Because the spectral response of standard silicon charge-coupled device (CCD) detectors drops off rapidly at wavelengths as long as 400 nm, and because oxygen and water absorb in the VUV spectral band, maintaining sufficient signal outside a vacuum is not possible. Designing vacuum-compatible spectrometers to address these issues can be difficult and expensive. As a result, most commercially available VUV spectrometers require custom configuration and are too expensive and unwieldy for many common applications.

The new Ocean Optics STS Microspectrometer is a remarkably small CMOS-based unit that is less than 50 mm square and weighs just over 2 ounces. This ultra-compact spectrometer is ideal for OEM devices and provides full spectral analysis with low stray light and high signal-to-noise ratio. STS boasts optical resolution of ~1.5 nm (FWHM) and is particularly suited for high-intensity applications such as LED characterization and absorbance/transmission measurements. STS meets or exceeds optical resolution, stability, sensitivity and other performance criteria associated with larger, more expensive spectrometers. Plus, its built-in shutter makes taking dark measurements more convenient. STS is available with a 25 cm fiber that has a 400 µm core diameter and can be configured with a 25 µm or 100 µm slit. Choose STS-VIS for 350-800 nm wavelengths or STS-NIR for 650-1100 nm.

Toptica iBeam Smart: now available at 515nm

TOPTICA presents direct diode technology at 515 nm . So far, the green wavelength regime has not been accessible directly with laser diodes. Integrated in TOPTICA’s OEM diode laser iBeam smart, the new wavelength was recently demonstrated live at Photonics West. Other newly available wavelengths are 395 nm (120 mW), 420 nm (120 mW) and 460 nm (100 mW). Furthermore high power versions of 445 nm (100 mW) and 473 nm (80 mW) are available starting now. These new wavelengths will be integrated in the iBeam smart, the new fiber-pigtailed diode laser iBeam smart PT and TOPTICA’s new multi laser engine, the iChrome MLE.
