Practical guide to the realization of a convertible optical trapping system

Chenglong Zhao, an assistant professor at the University of Dayton, Ohio, has recently published a ‘Practical guide to the realization of a convertible optical trapping system’ in the Optics Express. Using a Laser Quantum ventus, Prof Zhao provides a detailed guide to the construction of a convertible optical trapping system for either single-beam or counter-propagating traps. This system can be easily switched between single-beam and the counter-propagating trap allowing particles that vary widely both in size and material to be trapped and manipulated.
