Edmund Optics , the premier provider of optical components, has introduced new high performance Deformable Mirrors. These mirrors are the easiest and most convenient tool to correct optical aberrations through wavefront manipulation and control. They are ideal for use in combination with wavefront sensors and real-time control systems in adaptive optics. This particular deformable mirror has 32 radially packed actuators. There is more than 10µm (typically 14µm) of actuator max stroke. They are suited for tabletop applications as well as OEM integration. Priced considerably less than competing products, EO’s Deformable Mirrors are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.

These versatile mirrors will be featured in a special demonstration available for viewing at the EO Booth 1909 during CLEO/QELS 2010, May 18-20, 2010 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA. The demonstration will show the integration of a deformable mirror into a PBS-based Twyman-Green Interferometer. By replacing the traditional test surface with a deformable mirror, one can better illustrate the deformations of the mirror’s surface. These small changes in the surface of the mirror create variations in the interferogram. Additionally, this set up highlights how optical noise can be reduced by simply reducing the amount of back reflections in the system.
